Privacy Policy

MoonPaw Tarot respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information MoonPaw Tarot processes, how that information is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to you.
By using MoonPaw Tarot, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE
MoonPaw Tarot may process information you choose to enter or create within the app, including:
- Tarot questions and intentions
- Selected tarot spreads
- Drawn cards, card positions, and upright or reversed orientations
- AI interpretation tone preferences
- Saved readings
- Favorite readings
- Journal entries and personal notes
- App preferences and settings
You are not required to include personal information in a tarot question, reading, journal entry, or note.
Do not submit sensitive personal information, including medical information, financial account information, government identification numbers, passwords, or information about another person without their permission.
2. INFORMATION STORED ON YOUR DEVICE
MoonPaw Tarot stores reading history, favorites, journal entries, notes, preferences, and related app data locally on your device using Apple storage technologies, including SwiftData and UserDefaults.
This locally stored information remains on your device unless a feature expressly transmits it to an external service, as described below.
MoonPaw Tarot does not currently provide a user account or cloud synchronization service. Deleting the app may permanently delete locally stored readings, journal entries, notes, favorites, and preferences.
3. AI-GENERATED READINGS
When you request an AI-generated tarot interpretation, MoonPaw Tarot transmits the information needed to generate the reading to a secure server endpoint operated through Cloudflare.
The transmitted information may include:
- Your tarot question or intention
- The selected spread and spread name
- Drawn card names
- Card positions
- Upright or reversed card orientations
- Your selected interpretation tone
The Cloudflare endpoint forwards this information to the OpenAI API so that an interpretation can be generated and returned to the app.
Cloudflare and OpenAI process this information only as necessary to transmit the request, generate the response, maintain service security, prevent misuse, and operate their respective services. Their processing is also governed by their own privacy policies, terms, and data-retention practices.
MoonPaw Tarot does not intentionally send your locally stored journal entries, personal notes, favorites, or unrelated saved readings to the AI service unless that information is included by you in the question submitted for an AI reading.
OpenAI states that data submitted through its API is not used to train its models by default unless the API customer expressly opts in to data sharing.
AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, unexpected, or inappropriate. AI readings are provided for entertainment and personal reflection only.
4. PURCHASES AND SUBSCRIPTIONS
Premium features may require an auto-renewable subscription.
Purchases and subscription payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. MoonPaw Tarot does not receive or store your complete payment-card information.
MoonPaw Tarot uses RevenueCat to help manage subscription status, premium access, purchase restoration, and related transaction information.
Apple and RevenueCat may process information such as:
- Purchase history
- Product identifiers
- Subscription status
- Transaction identifiers
- App-specific customer identifiers
- Subscription expiration and renewal information
This information is used to process purchases, verify premium access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and manage subscriptions.
Apple and RevenueCat process this information under their own privacy policies and terms.
5. DEVICE, DIAGNOSTIC, AND TECHNICAL INFORMATION
MoonPaw Tarot does not use third-party advertising SDKs and does not use your activity for targeted advertising.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated App Store information, crash reports, performance information, and diagnostic data according to your Apple privacy and analytics settings.
Cloudflare, OpenAI, RevenueCat, and Apple may process limited technical information necessary to operate their services, such as IP address, device or operating-system information, request timestamps, app version, transaction information, error information, and service logs.
6. HOW INFORMATION IS USED
Information may be used to:
- Provide tarot readings and AI-generated interpretations
- Save readings, favorites, journal entries, and preferences
- Process and restore subscriptions
- Verify premium access
- Maintain app functionality and reliability
- Diagnose technical problems
- Protect the app and its services from fraud, abuse, and security threats
- Comply with applicable law and legal obligations
- Respond to support and privacy inquiries
7. HOW INFORMATION IS SHARED
MoonPaw Tarot may share information only as reasonably necessary with:
- Cloudflare, to securely route AI requests
- OpenAI, to generate AI interpretations
- Apple, to process App Store purchases and provide platform services
- RevenueCat, to manage subscription status and premium access
- Service providers assisting with security, infrastructure, or technical operation
- Government authorities or other parties when required by law or necessary to protect legal rights, safety, or security
MoonPaw Tarot does not sell your personal information.
MoonPaw Tarot does not share tarot questions, journal entries, or reading content for targeted advertising.
8. DATA RETENTION
Locally stored readings, favorites, notes, journal entries, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them through the app or remove the app from your device.
Information transmitted for AI generation may be retained temporarily by Cloudflare or OpenAI according to their applicable policies, security requirements, and legal obligations.
Purchase and subscription information may be retained by Apple and RevenueCat as necessary to process transactions, verify entitlement status, maintain financial records, prevent fraud, and comply with law.
Support communications may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your request and maintain appropriate business records.
9. YOUR CHOICES
You may:
- Use MoonPaw Tarot without entering personally identifying information
- Avoid including sensitive information in tarot questions or notes
- Use non-AI readings when available
- Delete individual readings, notes, favorites, or journal entries within the app
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple Account settings
- Disable optional permissions through iOS Settings
- Delete locally stored app information by uninstalling the app
Because MoonPaw Tarot does not currently provide user accounts or cloud storage, locally stored information generally cannot be recovered after it is deleted.
10. DATA SECURITY
MoonPaw Tarot uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information.
AI requests are transmitted using encrypted HTTPS connections. API credentials are stored on the server and are not embedded directly within the app.
No electronic transmission, storage system, or service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You use the app and submit information at your own discretion.
11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
MoonPaw Tarot is not directed to children under 13, and MoonPaw Tarot does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child has submitted personal information through the app, contact us so the issue can be reviewed.
12. INTERNATIONAL DATA PROCESSING
Cloudflare, OpenAI, Apple, RevenueCat, and other service providers may process information in the United States or other countries.
Privacy laws and protections in those countries may differ from those in your country or region.
13. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
MoonPaw Tarot relies on third-party services that maintain their own privacy policies and terms, including:
- Apple
- RevenueCat
- Cloudflare
- OpenAI
MoonPaw Tarot is not responsible for the independent privacy practices of those third parties.
14. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy may be updated when MoonPaw Tarot's features, service providers, legal obligations, or data practices change.
The effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy will be updated when changes are made. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acknowledgment of the revised Privacy Policy.
